Indian Hill Elementary Communications

In our effort to enhance our school-to-home communication we are redesigning the way we communicate with our school community.  Our goal is not to inundate with you messages but rather to keep you informed with timely news and reminders.  There will be overlap between all of the services so we encourage you to sign up for the services that are most convenient for you. We are pleased to offer the following communication options.

Expressions: ES School News

We have changed the format of a our bi-weekly newsletter format to a more timely blog format.  Rather than wait to publish we will post messages to the blog when they are most timely.  The blog news can be found at: http://estest.ih.k12.oh.us/wordpress-mu/ihesnews/

Twitter: IHelementary

Knowing that many of our parents use social media to stay up to date, we are adding our information to this stream of data.  Twitter is service that allows a user to follow the short posts (140 characters) of other users.  To follow Indian Hill Elementary simply follow IHelementary.  More detailed information about Twitter can be found below.

How to Use Twitter: The Basics

In addition to running on a computer, Twitter also will run on most Smartphones.  There are different free Twitter apps that you can install on your phone.  Twitter has its own app and other popular alternatives that have additional features include HootSuite and Tweetdeck.

To get started with Twitter, simply go to http://twitter.com/.  All that is needed to create an account is your name, email address, and a password that you set.  Once logged in, you will click on "Who to Follow" on the upper right.  Search for "IHelementary" and then click on the green follow button and whenever the ES posts any information you will see it on your Twitter homepage.

Text Messages with Remind101

For many parents a computer is no longer the preferred communication device.  According to our recent parent survey, text messages are the preferred mode of school-to-home communication for many parents.  With that in mind we are trying a free service designed for schools called Remind101 that allows us to send SMS to our parents.  Parents subscribe via a text message.  To better target our messages, we have four different streams of information: messages of interest to the entire school, messages targeted to 3rd grade parents,  messages targeted to 4th grade parents, and messages targeted to 5th grade parents.

To receive messages of school interest simply text the message @ihes to (720)466-7772.

To receive messages of grade 3 interest text the message @ihe to (720)466-7772.

To receive messages of grade 4 interest text the message @mrsste to (720)466-7772.

To receive messages of grade 5 interest text the message @stew to (720)466-7772.
