Using the Lifelong Guidelines of:
1. Active Listening
a. Raise your hand and wait to be called on to speak.
and the Lifeskill of
2. Responsibility
a. Take care of everything in our school library: books, magazines, furniture, computers, and everything else.
Our 3 Basic Guidelines
· Take Care of Yourself
· Take Care of Others
· Take Care of our Environment
The following practices will help us remember our Procedures:
Come prepared with our necessary materials: books, pencils and supplies for research.
Quietly line up outside the front door and wait for directions from Mrs. Anders.
Walk to the Story Area or the tables. Mrs. Anders is the line leader.
Sit on the green and blue part of the carpet in the Story Area so everyone can see and hear the lesson.
Show consideration by returning books to their proper place.
During Selection Time everyone must have something to read. Show respect for others by making your reading choice quietly. If you forgot your book from last week you should be making a book choice so Mrs. Anders can save it for you on the Saving Shelf. Magazines can always be read by those students who have already made their book choices.
Students must follow safety rules. Walk at all times.
Courtyard and Hassock cushions are only for those students who have had their book scanned and are reading quietly.
Other
library policies:
1. Students may check out two books
at a time. Students may check out one magazine at a time. If they desire more than two they may speak with Mrs.
Anders.
2. Books are circulated for one week at a time. Books may be renewed as long as no one else is waiting for it.
3. Students may place any book on "Reserve" so that they may "get in line" to read a book which is currently checked out.
4. Students are welcome to the library at any time their teacher gives them permission to come. They may check books out or return materials at any time.
5. All students will have a regularly scheduled library instruction class each week.
