The Indian Hill Research Guide provides students in grades K-12 with a basic style manual for use in preparing research products. It will be used by all departments for all assignments requiring notation of source. While this manual is to be used with the goal of a common format, it is intended that teachers in the lower grades will refer to it and use what is appropriate for their grade levels. As research assignments become more complex and products more detailed, students will be asked to use the more advanced forms of citation.

The district has also begun to utilize a process called IH Inquiry/Research which provides a K-12 framework for the teaching and learning of research skills, and guides teachers in helping students develop their own knowledge by exploring questions of substance.  Our process is based on the Big6™ Process. For additional information about the IH Inquiry/Research process, please see individual library sites below.

The manual is based on the most recent edition of MLA (Modern Language Association) Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. Indian Hill's Research Guide will be sufficient for most citations; however, it may be supplemented with a copy of the MLA Handbook for further coverage.
