BASKETBALL GAME RULES FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL

1. Captains decide which team gets the ball first by: paper, rock, scissors.

2. Games are approximately 7 minutes.

3. Captains keep track of points earned during class: 3 for win 2 for tie 1 for non-win
(if captain fails to write down the score, the team will only receive 1 point per game)

4. At end of each game, captains go to board and locate the place of the next game.

5. Any contact is a foul. Ball is taken to the free-throw line to begin again. Person in possession of the basketball at the time of the foul-- determines foul. There are no foul shots taken.

6. Double dribbling and traveling = take the ball to foul line and begin play.

7. If the basketball hits the backboard or rim and the other team gains possession, then that team must dribble/pass the ball and begin from the foul line.

8. If there is an odd number of players, then one person from the larger number team plays offense the entire time. No one sits out.

9. Points are counted as one (not two).

10. Any questionable call can be taken to the team captain for a ruling. If you know an infraction has been committed, then do what is right. Paper, rock, scissors is the last resort when the captains cannot agree.
