Performance Objectives:  

S7. While stationary/moving, the student will strike a stationary ball, using a pendulum swing with an implement held in two hands.
S8. While stationary/moving, the student will strike a rolling/bounding ball, using a pendulum swing with an implement held in two hands.

 

Safety Rules:

1. Always wear shinguards.

2. Keep the hockey stick(s) below your knee.
a. hold the hockey stick below the tape grip with your dominant hand.
b. play the game leaning over.
c. lock your wrists and elbows on your follow-through.
d. never have both of your hands together when you grip the hockey stick.

3. Call the ball, "I've got it!" This will eliminate people from running in front of you.

4. Stay positive if someone miss-hits a ball. Everyone makes mistakes. (It's Ok).

5. Don't advise others on how to play unless someone sincerely asks for your help.

 

Consequences: two minute penalties

1. If your stick is inside the goalie crease or touching someone's body.

2. Tripping or hooking opponent with the stick.

3. Slashing: deliberately hitting opponents arms or hands.

4. Obstruction: deliberately preventing an opponent from playing the ball while making no attempt to play the ball themselves.

5. High sticks: the blade of the stick may not come above the knee at anytime - 2 high sticks/game = expulsion from the game.

6. Deliberately leaving feet to play the ball.

7. Playing the ball while on the floor.

8. Goalie reaching for a ball outside of the crease.
