New Home of the Braves crosses the finish line thanks to bold philanthropy

The Indian Hill Foundation is thrilled to announce that it has reached its fundraising goal of $4.25 million dollars to build the new Home of the Braves, a multi-use athletic facility and welcome plaza! A little over one year ago, the Indian Hill School District and the Indian Hill Foundation entered into the District’s first ever public-private partnership. The District had previously committed $1 million dollars to renovate the football locker rooms at Indian Hill High School. The hope, however, was that through its new partnership, the Indian Hill Foundation could leverage that $1 million into funds sufficient to build an entirely new facility that would benefit a multitude of sports teams as well as coaches, trainers and visitors alike.

Thankfully, the campaign got off to a strong start when District parents, Peter Klekamp and Craig Sumerel, agreed to co-chair the fundraising endeavor. They quickly assembled a volunteer cabinet dedicated to taking on a task never before attempted in Indian Hill – raising community funds for a school project. This committee of zealous and committed volunteers, led by Mr. Klekamp and Mr. Sumerel, reached out to current parents, alumni, and community members championing the benefits the new facility would bring to both students and the community.

The Indian Hill School District and the Indian Hill Foundation would like to thank Mr. Peter Klekamp, Mr. Craig Sumerel, their volunteer committee, and the Indian Hill community for their enthusiastic support of this campaign. Over 300 families and businesses contributed to this project ranging from leadership gifts to the purchase of pavers. Additionally, this campaign generated the largest gift ever to the Indian Hill Foundation – a transformative matching grant of $500,000.

This support will create opportunities for students in the Indian Hill Exempted Village School District for years to come, as well as create a new community gathering space for celebrations and events. The new Home of the Braves is the direct result of the bold philanthropic support by our community for our community. Thank you!
