Our Brave Future

Superintendent Kirk Koennecke

Being Brave – at the Indian Hill School District, this is what our community expects, and it is the way we do business. We are always looking to the next level of excellence and achievement.

This school year, I am both humbled and honored to serve our incredible professional team, our amazing students, and our supportive community as the superintendent of schools. Being a new Brave, I will be involved in my own learning. The questions I will have will be many, and perhaps there is one question I will be asking that is the most important: What more could this school district be?

Just like our community, our schools are the destination for educational professionals who are never quite satisfied with the status quo. Our educators value continuous improvement as a pillar for how we operate. As we enter year three of our strategic plan, the GOLD Standard, we will continue to take action steps that foster change. As we examine our practices, we will work together to find truly personalized paths to achievement for students. We will continue to build a culture grounded in equity, and one that practices with growth mindsets that allow us to tackle any challenge as a team.

Sharing the story of the 2019-2020 school year as it unfolds is our intention. I will join each of our buildings in communicating with our entire Brave family about all of the things that make the Indian Hill School District so special through Twitter at @IHSuperBrave. We will share regular columns, like this one, within my new blog Being Brave, which you will be able to access on our District website

This upcoming school year holds endless possibilities for our students – if we are Brave enough to allow ourselves to question, to stumble, and to learn. That is how we will better understand how to direct our energy, and that is how we will ultimately help our students realize their dreams. I look forward to building our Brave future together.

In service to our students,
Kirk Koennecke
