Braves author a story of success at PENOhio

If the story is titled “PENOhio State Competition Qualified” – then the byline belongs to Indian Hill High School (IHHS) students Julianne Lambert and Samara Summers; each student earned the opportunity to compete in the state competition following the regional high school writing competition March 16 in Dublin, Ohio.

IHHS had four Braves – all ninth and 10th grade students – travel to Dublin Coffman High School to compete against 75 other students from eight high schools in central and southwest Ohio in the Junior Varsity (JV) writing competition: sophomore Julianne Lambert; freshman Marianna Narita; sophomore Jessica Lau; and freshman Samara Summers. Junior Varsity is defined as all ninth and 10th graders; varsity includes 11th and 12th grade students.

Julianne Lambert was recognized in the individual category for JV, placing second in the tournament. She and Samara Summers qualified to participate in the state tournament on Friday, May 17 at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio.

“I could not be more proud of the dedication these four writers demonstrated simply in competing,” said IHHS teacher Tom Millard. “Originally, the tournament was to be held in Dayton; then the tournament was cancelled altogether. When the chance to compete at this venue north of Columbus became available, our writers leapt at it. To have half of our squad qualify for state competition is icing on the cake.”
