Indian Hill High School’s advanced choir earns high marks!

IHHS Premieres at OMEA

Indian Hill High School (IHHS) congratulates the Premieres for earning an overall Superior rating during the Large Group Division AA Adjudicated Contest for the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) on Friday, March 15. The IHHS advanced choir performed at Walnut Hills High School along with other choirs from the Southwest region.

“While the enrollment of Indian Hill High School would have dictated a smaller classification, the decision was made to register in the most difficult tier that is often reserved for the top choirs at large high schools,” said IHHS Vocal Music Director Jeff Clark. “Students had to perform a required piece of music, and choose two others of similar difficulty, and also sight read a piece of choral music in order to earn ratings.”

In addition to the overall Superior rating, the Premieres also earned three Superior (I) ratings and one Excellent (II) rating.

“The judges commented on our challenging repertoire and attention to detail,” said Clark. “I am so proud of our singers’ efforts to make such a strong showing at this competitive level!”

The Premieres will be performing their contest pieces as part of the Spring Choral Concert on Thursday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the IHHS Auditorium. This concert is free for the community to attend. We hope to see you there!
