November 24 Update: Indian Hill to pause all athletics and activities

The Indian Hill Board of Education, out of an abundance of concern for the safety of our student-athletes and student-musicians who cannot adhere to the mask mandate during games and practices, made the decision to pause all athletics and performing arts activities. The Board will evaluate the decision to curtail these activities again on January 7. The decision was made during the regularly scheduled November 24 Board meeting after discussion about the ever increasing concern of significant and continued COVID-19 spread within Hamilton County and the state.

Please note that our instructional model continues to be Plan A, as we believe the option for five-day-a-week, face-to-face instruction is important. We feel confident in the investment we have made to be safe within our classroom settings. We will modify some of our music education classes across the District to ensure safety, and we are working with our educators directly on those plans.

The Board of Education strongly recommends that students and staff refrain from social gatherings outside of their immediate families and households prior to a return to school November 30.

Important PickUp Patrol Update
We continue to use PickUp Patrol to monitor daily health checks for attendance to school. The Board of Education has determined to include a modified screening question beginning November 30 to reinforce the importance of our daily health check process. This modified question will be used to confirm the following statement: I certify my student has not traveled to any state listed on the Ohio Travel Advisory list or the CDC travel advisory list over the holiday break, or within the past 14 days.

Again, this statement will appear in a question format within PickUp Patrol. Should any of the listed PickUp Patrol questions be answered in the affirmative, quarantine of 14 days is expected.

The District will continue to provide you information on any positive COVID-19 cases that impact our campus during the week of Thanksgiving. If you find out you are COVID-19 positive during the break, please call our COVID-19 Hotline to report your case at (513) 272-9698.

Please be safe this Thanksgiving holiday.

In service to our children,

Kirk Koennecke
Superintendent
Indian Hill School District
