Primary Players pack the house!
IHPS Primary PlayersThere wasn’t an empty seat.

Monday, October 28, Indian Hill Primary School (IHPS) was packed to capacity as 80-plus second-grade families converged in the 1960s auditorium to experience the unparalleled arts program that begins with our youngest Braves. Primary Players, dressed in full costume, took the stage for a show-stopping performance, sending the crowd into joyful applause.

“It really is magical,” said IHPS Principal Jim Nichols. “The program is just an incredible experience for our students, setting the foundation for learning within the arts that is to come as our Braves grow.”

When it comes to music education, the Indian Hill School District is one of the best in the nation; so says the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). The NAMM Foundation awarded Indian Hill a Best Communities for Music Education award in the spring. This was the fifth consecutive year Braves have brought home this honor, and Indian Hill was one of 623 districts in the country to earn this recognition this year.

“The learning begins on the stage for our primary students, and continues throughout each building on our campus,” said Indian Hill Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. “We have 319 student-musicians from Indian Hill Middle School and Indian Hill High School who perform with orchestra and band as part of our award-winning music program – that is outstanding!”

“Each year, even though we have been offering Primary Players for many years, it feels so fresh – and that happens because for our students who are growing, this is a new experience in learning about the arts,” said Nichols. “It’s an experience we hope our children and their family members will carry in their memories for a lifetime.”
