The Indian Hill School District congratulates and celebrates Indian Hill High School Soccer Coach Bryan Daniel on being named the 2024 Boys Small Public National Coach of the Year by United Soccer Coaches. The announcement follows the Indian Hill High School Soccer Team’s undefeated season that culminated with earning the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division III State Championship in November 2024, making school history for the program.
“This recognition is not just about coaching; it's about the culture of Indian Hill Soccer,” said Daniel. “My name may be the one on the plaque, but this award is only possible because of the players who put that jersey on and battled side-by-side for 25 games this season, along with the tireless efforts of our amazing coaching staff (Tony Awor, Jake Cowens, Mike Duncan, Mike Fry, Bill Mees, and Logan Neff). It is an honor to accept this award on behalf of all of those guys, and it's a privilege to get to represent the Indian Hill community at the ceremony in Chicago this week.”
The award will be presented during the annual United Soccer Coaches Awards Ceremony on Friday, January 10, 2025, in the Marriott Great Lakes Ballroom, Chicago, in conjunction with the 85th annual United Soccer Coaches Convention.
“What an historic era for Indian Hill Soccer!” said Indian Hill Athletic Director Brian Phelps. “We are so proud of the grit that our team showed throughout the season; perseverance was rewarded with a state championship, and it couldn’t have happened without the consistent leadership of Coach Daniel. We are so proud of his distinction as the very best coach in the nation; we couldn’t agree more.”
“I am extremely grateful to be a part of a district athletic department that supports our coaches and players in every way imaginable,” said Daniel. “Brian Phelps, Julius King, and Michell Cowherd do so much invisible work to provide amazing opportunities to Indian Hill athletes, and our athletic trainers, Susan Blackson and Terri Konte, are a crucial component to successful seasons. Additionally, our strength and conditioning regimen under Coach Logan Neff has become a cornerstone of our program. As coaches, we simply could not do our jobs without the work of these behind-the-scenes leaders.
“We want our program to be known for being developmentally focused, relationship-centered, and competitively driven – an environment where younger players dream of wearing the badge and continuing the rich legacy of Braves Soccer. Seeing our program's success recognized at the national level this season is a great affirmation of that program vision and philosophy. We're excited about the future, but this week, we're going to revisit 2024 one more time as we celebrate this award together as a staff!”
