The Indian Hill School District celebrates the announcement by the state Department of Education & Workforce (DEW) Ohio’s Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program for being awarded funding in the amount of $272,733. The Indian Hill School District will implement student programming centered on career-learning within the next school year, as part of the grant expectations.
“This is historic for our district, and we congratulate our team that worked diligently over two years to make this moment happen,” said Indian Hill CEO/Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. “We are beyond excited to dive into bringing our career-readiness initiatives to life for our students.”
“These funds will help further expand and develop current and future programs within the Department of K-12 Leadership and Career Development,” said Director Jeff Damadeo, who is currently working to build programming within the department. “Grant funds will help expand our ability to integrate industry recognized credential opportunities, particularly in the areas of computer science and leadership, while addressing facility and equipment needs simultaneously. This will make an enormous impact as we continue to fulfill our #IHPromise for ALL Braves.”
According to DEW, awards come with an option for carryover for an additional fiscal year, based on performance. The District will submit quarterly self-assessments, interim grant activities, and an annual expenditure report as part of the compliance system.
“This is work worthy of our effort as we strive to be good stewards of the money our taxpayers invest,” said Indian Hill CFO/Treasurer Mick Davis. “We are thrilled with the result of this focused attention, which will benefit both our students and our community.”
The Indian Hill School District earned an additional six grants awarded in October of 2023 for a combined $30,000 to expand STEM learning projects through the Ohio STEM Learning Network Classroom Grant Program. The grants helped fund projects at Indian Hill Primary School, Indian Hill Elementary School, and Indian Hill Middle School. During the 2022-2023 school year, the district received $300,000 in Ohio K-12 School Safety Grants Awarded for construction and $15,000 in grants through the Ohio STEM Learning Network STEM Classroom Grant program. Additionally, the district continues to celebrate savings through the implementation of an Energy Savings Program, which guarantees more than $150,000 in savings annually.
