The Indian Hill School District, in partnership with AASA, The School Superintendents Association, hosted an Innovation for Transformation learning conference on October 6-8. Nearly 100 educators from across the country toured facilities and learned about both science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and transformational leadership programming, with Indian Hill students guiding the tours.

“Having our students in grades K-12 front and center talking about their learning was the absolute highlight for all involved,” said Indian Hill CEO/Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. “This is our ‘why’ – providing opportunities to let our students lead. The entire event was outstanding and it was our privilege to host.”

“We were excited to showcase the amazing work that each of our educators do every day to support and inspire our students,” said Indian Hill Interim Assistant Superintendent Whitney Buell. “We are a learning community built on innovative teaching practices, leadership development, and student-centered initiatives that make our district a leader in educational excellence. This event allowed us to impact young lives even beyond our campus.”

In addition to touring the Indian Hill School District, educators had the opportunity to tour the Cincinnati Museum Center, P&G, TQL Stadium, and the University of Cincinnati’s 1819 Innovation Hub. At the University of Cincinnati (UC), attendees toured the facility and explored the various resources available within the Cincinnati Innovation District ecosystem.

“Indian Hill has prioritized innovation in their educational approach, particularly in STEM, making them an ideal partner for UC as we share a commitment to these initiatives. We are honored that they have chosen the 1819 Innovation Hub as one of just two sites to tour in Cincinnati,” stated Patty Moser, UC director of experience, events, and esports.

“The presentation at the 1819 Innovation Hub will deepen the collaboration with our team, strategically equipping our students for success in college and beyond,” said Damadeo.

The Indian Hill School District hosted a debut National STEM Academy designed for educators at the new state-of-the-art Indian Hill Middle School building June 6 and 7. The National STEM Academy featured keynote presentations from national STEM learning thought leaders, along with focused breakout presentations from world-class Indian Hill School District faculty and staff.

“Everyone wins when educational leaders take time to learn from each other, especially the students,” said Koennecke. “We will continue to strive to be an incubator where educational innovation thrives and share that knowledge as much as possible to positively impact all students.”
