Indian Hill Primary School Family Literacy Night

IHPS Family Literacy Night

It was a literacy party and all Indian Hill Primary School (IHPS) students and parents were invited to attend the October 6 evening event! Students took home around 200 books from the reading festivities that was set up at the IHPS outside play area.

“We had to find a location that allowed people to have all the space they needed to feel comfortable attending,” said Indian Hill Primary School Principal Dr. Erin Owens. “Coming together outdoors offered the opportunity to make personal connections with our parents. Thank goodness that the rain held off!”

Teachers planned the student-led, family engagement event with the intent to bring joy and a sense of pride about what children are learning. This year the theme was Camp-Read-A-Lot.

“Seeing the sea of families was heartwarming and encouraging,” said Dr. Owens. “Every face looked happy! Our turnout is typically large and we were proud to have planned another successful Literacy Night. Can't wait for next year!”
