The Indian Hill School District is pleased to announce the approval of a safety grant through the Ohio Attorney General’s FY23 School Safety Grant fund. The District will receive $11,115.88 to make upgrades to the windows, part of a comprehensive program to address safety across the school district.

“Part of our plan is to add 3M Safety and Security Film to targeted windows/doors, and this grant will allow us to install 3M™ Safety & Security Window Films,” said Indian Hill Director of Operation Jim Nichols. “This state-of-the-art product makes glass harder to penetrate and holds shattered pieces in place, helping keep both people and property safe from dangers posed by intruders, severe weather, and broken glass.”

This grant is the latest in a series of grants awarded to address safety. The District was previously awarded $300,000 total in Ohio K-12 School Safety Grants for upgrades to Indian Hill Primary School, Indian Hill Elementary School, and Indian Hill High School. The District is currently renovating entrances at the Indian Hill Primary School and Indian Hill Elementary School. The new Indian Hill Middle School is being constructed with the latest technology as it relates to security.

“The safety of our students and our staff is the No. 1 priority for our Board of Education and our administrative team,” said Indian Hill CEO/Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. “These upgrades are the direct result of our District working with our partners, the Indian Hill Rangers, and other safety experts to continue to refine our facilities and our practices to ensure we are operating at optimum capacity in regards to security. We appreciate the state funding our District has received to implement these important upgrades, and we always keep an eye towards fiscal responsibility as stewards of the investment our community makes in our schools.”
