The Indian Hill School District congratulates Indian Hill Middle School (IHMS) eighth-grade student-musicians Mina Hagopian and Jane Holbrook for performing their final concert with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) during May. The elite student-musicians participated in the junior Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble the past two years, which provides opportunities for students in grades six through eight. Additionally, the District celebrates IHMS sixth-grade student Kyler Zheng, who just completed his first year in the ensemble.

“It was fun and I got to meet a lot of different friends from different schools,” said Zheng.

All three students, who participate in the Indian Hill School District’s nationally recognized music education program, went through an audition process to be selected for the CCM opportunities.

“It has been a really good experience,” said Holbrook. “I think I’ve improved my skill level a lot by being in this band and being around really good musicians.”

Hagopian added, “The best part about doing CWYE was really pushing myself to grow and meeting other people who could push me to grow. Looking back, I realize how much better I’ve gotten because of it.”

“This selection by three of our students is a testament to the unparalleled opportunities within the arts that our students experience within our campus; we applaud these incredibly talented student-musicians for taking that to the next level through CCM,” said Indian Hill Arts and Activities Director Amy Clark. “We look forward to seeing them back on stage this fall for performances within our celebrated music education program!”
