My husband and I moved to Kenwood 25 years ago from Washington, D.C. Our four children started preschool in Indian Hill. As soon as they began kindergarten I volunteered in the classrooms, many Indian Hill PTO activities, and eventually several Board positions and PTO President. It was exciting to serve on the first Indian Hill PTO Board when all the schools combined to one PTO. Then I was honored to join the Indian Hill Foundation (IHF) helping to expand our career and community events. I currently serve as the IHF Board President. Due to my children’s love of sports, I have also enjoyed managing many sports teams as team mom.
I am proud to be a part of the Brave community. The honor in being a Brave encourages my responsibility to help further the extraordinary educational opportunities and excellence for the Indian Hill Schools. Our schools combine many unique parts that make us great. If we can all help affect some of our unique parts, then we are Brave.
I love the tag line #IHPromise, because it’s a constant reminder that we can all be a part of a great movement. I want to promise all students and staff in the Indian Hill School District that despite the escalating costs and decreasing state aid, we can help maintain the best education, incredibly trained staff, and go beyond what is possible in the Indian Hill public schools.
The IHF began almost 20 years ago and continues to grow into an organization focusing on Bold Philanthropy for Brave Possibilities. It is both challenging and rewarding to put the power of philanthropy towards innovating, accelerating, and enriching what is happening in all of our classrooms. We focus on strengthening the connections between the District and our community to make that happen. For example, IHF brings career speakers to all four of our schools; community events such as Conquer the Hill; house the IH Alumni connections; recognize distinguished Brave alum; collaborate with the administration by asking … What else? What if? What more? ... to endow grants that foster more than the school budget can do alone or projects and gifts that will go beyond, such as Home of the Braves and the Indian Hill High School Digital Arts Lab.
It is a pleasure to be part of such a wonderful community that thrives on continually bettering itself.
