Indian Hill High School student selected for Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble Symphonic Band
IHHS student Eshaan GandhiIndian Hill High School sophomore Eshaan Gandhi has avidly studied music the past six years. Recently, he was selected to play trombone for the 2021-2022 Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble Symphonic Band – with concerts in December and May 2022. We couldn’t wait to learn more about this amazing opportunity! See the Q&A below.

Indian Hill School District (IHSD): What led you to play music?

Eshaan Gandhi (EG): Music has always been a big part of my life, starting with singing in primary-elementary. In 5th grade, when I was introduced to the trombone, I knew that this was something that I was passionate about and I wanted to accelerate in. This led to where I am now, playing in larger groups of students just like me.

IHSD: Tell us about your recent selection - how did you learn about this opportunity, and what motivated you to audition?

EG: I learned about this opportunity through the University of Cincinnati, and something that motivated me into auditioning was the desire to be in an accelerated band/orchestra that I could play challenging music in.

IHSD: What was your reaction to being selected?

EG: My reaction was very excited and happy that I was accepted into the program. Playing with a larger group of accelerated students is extremely exciting.

IHSD: What would you tell fellow students to encourage them to explore music?

EG: I would tell them to at least try it out because they'll most likely enjoy it rather than not. Music is a way to relieve your stress and a form of passion.
