Rabenold Family Scholarship awarded to Jillian Rice

The Rabenold Scholarship has been generously initiated by Marjorie and Marlyn Rabenold and their children, all of whom are alumni of Indian Hill High School.  The Rabenolds also have several grandchildren who are either graduated from or currently attending Indian Hill Schools, showing the family’s deep and long-standing belief in the excellence of the Indian Hill District experience.  The annual scholarship is a one-time $1,000 award given to a graduating senior who is a “13 year” attendee of IH schools and, through his or her application, best exemplifies one or more of the Indian Hill High School’s six pillars: Excellence, Opportunity, Pride, Leadership, Integrity, Respect.   Jillian Rice is this year’s recipient.  She will be attending Oakland University as a member of the varsity swim team and will pursue a degree in nursing.   Mrs. Rabenold commented, “We continue to be impressed with the student applicants for this scholarship.  Their choices, commitment and

accomplishments have left "the good old days" and moved on to "world, here we come"!  Jillian identified one of her main goals early in her high

school years. She kept her focus on learning and teaching the value of something many take for granted, clean water, and helped two villages

in the Dominican Republic create a system that would give them clean water for 10 years. Maintaining the project included the never easy 'fund

raising', plus communicating with local businesses, gathering helpers, both local and in the community being affected, and while doing this living

a very active high school and community life.”
