Gibson Holmes
The Indian Hill School District congratulates Indian Hill High School sophomore Gibson Holmes for earning two state championships during the OHSAA State Swimming and Diving Tournament Thursday, February 25. Holmes claimed best in the state for the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley. Additionally, Holmes earned Swimmer of the Meet for having the most successful performance overall.

“I am very blessed to have had the opportunity to swim for Indian Hill during the pandemic,” said Holmes. “I want to thank Coach Matt and Coach Alli, as well as all the teachers who have helped me achieve my goals in and out of the pool. I am proud to bring home two state titles while representing Indian Hill.”

“The swim program has enjoyed some historic success over the last two seasons, winning the team state championship last year for the first time in school history, and now backing it up with runner-up performance this season,” said Indian Hill Swim Coach Matt Harrison. “A big part of that success has been our young, phenomenal Gibson Holmes. He is obviously incredibly talented in the water and is even more of a pleasure to have on the team for what he is out of the water, a bright, generous young man and a wonderful teammate! We look forward to his continued success over the next couple years and beyond.”

This is the second round of state champion titles for Holmes; he won the 100 butterfly as a freshman in 2020. Indian Hill High School celebrates a new school record set by Holmes with a 1:48.20 in the 200 individual medley for his other state title this year.

"Gibson Holmes has proven that he is an outstanding swimmer as well as an outstanding student and most importantly, young man,” said Indian Hill Athletic Director Brian Phelps. “There are not many swimmers who have had the success that he has had in their career, and he is only a sophomore! We are all extremely excited to see the path of his future. We are all so proud of his accomplishments and thankful that he is a Brave!"

The Indian Hill School District also congratulates the entire IHHS AquaBraves team for earning second in the state overall.
