The Indian Hill School District celebrates Indian Hill Middle School students Devyanshie Rautela and Ava Mehzad for winning the regional #STEMorbitsOhio Design Challenge! The Braves were one of 21 teams that advanced to the state competition which took place on Friday, February 23 in Columbus, from a total of 120 students from 32 schools who competed in the regional event.

“We are incredibly excited at the innovation and collaboration our students showed during this challenge,” said Indian Hill Middle School Principal Lauren Gentene. “We are proud of the way this team represented Indian Hill Middle School, and we look forward to future opportunities to showcase their ability to create real-world solutions when faced with critical problems. This is the type of learning we embrace as a building and as a school district.”

According to the Ohio STEM Learning Network, students were presented with a unique problem for the challenge: How do we improve the health and well-being of astronauts aboard Starlab orbiting the earth? To compete, students were tasked with developing a plan, system, or product to positively impact the sustainability of the physical and/or mental health of those living in space for an extended period of time. Their work was evaluated by a panel of judges.
