The Indian Hill School District congratulates Indian Hill High School students selected as DECA Emerging Leaders for 2024, including Nick Rinala, Anya Govil, Ben Liebel, Jackson Kaster, Kaylie Withers, Sophia Chen, Drew Boylan. Additionally, senior Jackson Kaster has been awarded the prestigious National Retail Federation (NRF) Foundation Scholarship.
The DECA Emerging Leaders award recognizes students studying marketing, finance, hospitality, and management for being academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leaders through participation in DECA. The award recipient must be a DECA member in his or her senior year of high school with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better for each of the high school semesters.
This $2,500 NRF Foundation Scholarship is awarded through DECA; Kaster will be honored at the Grand Awards Ceremony at the International Career Development Conference on April 30.
“We are extremely proud of all of these outstanding student-leaders,” said Indian Hill Marketing Instructor Phil Said, who mentors the DECA program in partnership with Great Oaks. “We couldn’t be more pleased Jackson earned the NRF Foundation Scholarship; Jackson represents the ideal DECA member who not only excels academically but also contributes significantly to his community and shows exceptional leadership qualities.”
DECA is a career and technical student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs with a career interest in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition. DECA student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. DECA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with nearly 250,000 members in 4,000 high school and college chapters in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Germany.
