The Indian Hill School District congratulates Indian Hill High School senior Sophia Chen for being named one of 625 semifinalists in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The semifinalists were selected from over 6,000 candidates expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in 2024.

“We are so proud of Sophia and all she has accomplished as a Brave,” said Indian Hill High School Principal Jeff Damadeo. “Sophia exemplifies leadership in a multitude of areas. We congratulate her on this outstanding achievement, and we look forward to seeing how her bright future unfolds.”

Inclusion in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors; the program was established in 1964 to recognize some of our nation’s most distinguished students. Scholars are selected on the basis of their accomplishments in many areas, including: academic and artistic success, accomplishment in career and technical fields, leadership, strong character, and involvement in school and the community.

The U.S. Department of Education will announce the Scholars in May. The Presidential Scholars Class of 2024 will be recognized for their outstanding achievement in late June.
