Celebrating Global Culture at the Indian Hill School District

Global Dinner

Can you imagine a party so big it featured more than 40 different nationalities? The students at the Indian Hill School District certainly can, and it happens every year! Each January, the Indian Hill School District looks forward to the Global Cultural Celebration Week. This event happens at each of our buildings and in partnership with our Indian Hill Global Group – a parent-based group supported by the Indian Hill PTO. Our Indian Hill Global Group already celebrated an international feast in November 2022 during our annual Global Dinner; now, our students, grades K-12, will enjoy a week-long cultural learning adventure.

The international party takes place this year from January 23-27. Friday, January 27 the much-anticipated Global Fair, which is the final day of our celebration, will be set up at Indian Hill Elementary School. Our District will honor the 2022-2023 Global Cultural Week through these activities:

Indian Hill High School (IHHS)
Students will be greeted with international music playing, decorations, and a slideshow celebrating Global Cultural Week at IHHS. Additionally, students will be able to participate in learning through an app with special learning activities celebrating the Indian Hill global population.

Indian Hill Middle School (IHMS)
IHMS students will have a variety of activities throughout the week. Each day, students in grades 6-8 will be greeted with morning music representative of the many nations that IHMS students/families are from. Social studies classes will extend the lessons with supplemental activities. Since our sixth-grade students are onsite at Indian Hill Elementary School, they will visit the Global Fair. The fair, which is hosted by the Indian Hill Global Group, is an incredible opportunity for students to discover more about the countries and cultures of many of our Indian Hill families.

Indian Hill Elementary School (IHES)
Every morning our IHES students participate in a morning meeting with their class. During this special week, all morning meetings will be focused on increasing awareness and understanding of countries and cultures of the world. Students will also have access to a global week website that offers opportunities for various global activities. Morning announcements will showcase countries and cultures and offer a moment for international music appreciation. Students will also enjoy the Global Fair at IHES on Friday, January 27.

Indian Hill Primary School (IHPS)
For our youngest Braves, morning meetings will focus on increasing awareness and understanding of countries and cultures of the world. Classes will receive clues about different countries and use resources to locate and learn about new places. Students will also have access to a global week website that offers opportunities for various global activities throughout the week. A variety of crafts will be available for classroom teachers to use to teach about our world. We are so excited about this unique Indian Hill learning tradition!

We sincerely thank the Indian Hill Global Group for making this celebration possible for our students each school year. We are fortunate to be a part of a community that is infused with such global diversity!
