Indian Hill celebrates student-athletes with signing ceremony

Student-athletes took center stage at Indian Hill High School (IHHS) Gym for a celebration Wednesday, April 28 as five IHHS seniors each committed to continue both their academic and athletic careers during a signing ceremony. The ceremony included IHHS students Nathan Berger, Robert Brunner, Dylan Halloran-Thompson, Mateo Lopez, and Luc Robinson.

“We are so incredibly proud of all of our student-athletes who have risen to the most unique of challenges during COVID-19, and we especially want to celebrate these elite student-athletes who will advance to the next level of competition,” said IHHS Athletic Director Brian Phelps. “This school year, we have seen 16 student-athletes commit to collegiate-level competition.”

Nathan Berger – Football, Wittenberg University
• 3-year varsity letter winner
• Starter junior & senior seasons
• Two-time All-CHL Conference 2nd Team Honors
• Indian Hill scholar athlete

From Nathan Berger:
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for this moment. Also, thanks to all of my coaches who have played a huge part in getting me here today! I want to thank each of them for teaching me, inspiring me and believing in me. A very special thanks to Coach Eigher. I am who I am today because of him, and I am forever grateful for that.”

Robert Brunner – Lacrosse, Ohio Northern University
• Team captain
• 3-year varsity letter winner in lacrosse
• Can-Am All-Star-nominated as one of four Manny’s Men from that showcase
• Three-time Eastside Lacrosse All-Star & two-time captain
• Captain for four club lacrosse teams
• Indian Hill scholar athlete

From Robert Brunner:
“After working around not having a junior lacrosse season, I am so happy to be able to play lacrosse for Ohio Northern. The journey took a lot of time, gas, and hard work, but I am so happy to say I made it.”

Dylan Halloran-Thompson – Track & Field, Mount Saint Joseph University
• Qualified for the Indoor Track State Championship
• Voted as team captain
• Currently ranked 2nd in the CHL in discus
• Ranked 3rd in shot put

From Dylan Halloran-Thompson:
“I want to thank my coach, Susan Savage, and all the other coaches who have helped me improve as an athlete. I would also like to thank my mom for keeping me on the right path. Thanks to the Indian Hill Staff for helping me to get where I am today and believing in me. Without the support that I have received, I would not be where I am today. I am thankful for being able to be a part of the Indian Hill Track & Field Team and excited to be on my way to participate at Mount St. Joseph.”

Mateo Lopez – Basketball, University of Cincinnati Clermont
• 3-year varsity letter winner in basketball
• Team captain
• 1st Team All-CHL
• Honorable Mention, All-Southwest Ohio

From Mateo Lopez:
“I am thankful for the opportunity to continue my basketball career at UC Clermont. Coach Burch and his staff have impacted my life in such a positive way. I thank all of you for sacrificing your time to make me a better player and person. I am eager to make you proud. GO BRAVES!”

Luc Robinson – Basketball, Wake Forest University
• 3-year varsity letter winner
• CHL Honorable Mention honors
• Indian Hill scholar athlete

From Luc Robinson:
“It has been a long and exciting journey to get to this point. I would like to thank Coach Burch, Coach Miller, and the rest of the Indian Hill coaches for pushing me to be the player and best man I can be these past four years. I would like to thank my teammates, my friends, and the entire Indian Hill community for supporting me since day one. Lastly, I want to thank my mom, dad, and sisters for being my number one supporters and believing in me through everything. I’m excited to be a Demon Deacon. GO DEACS!”
