ADA Statement
Philosophy
Physical Education is a fundamental part of the whole school curriculum as well as a vital part of the education of each child. There is a direct correlation between physical activity and academic growth.
Physical education is concerned with the total well-being of students. This encompasses interrelated studies in health and physical education programs that involve the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. These programs include teaching basic concepts in physical development and health opportunities for obtaining and assessing their individual skills, opportunities for developing personal health/fitness plans, and skills and strategies in activities for lifelong participation and maintenance of wellness.
The physical education arena serves as a place where students can learn respect, responsibility and teamwork. Through games and activities requiring both cooperation and sportsmanship, students recognize the uniqueness of others as well as themselves. The environment will provide a unique opportunity to develop these important lifelong skills.
Vision Statement
All students will be physically educated, having acquired motor skills to perform a variety of physical activities according to their individual ability levels, physical fitness knowledge, and intrinsic motivation to pursue a healthy and active lifestyle in an increasingly changing society.
